What is a Validation Gate?

A Validation Gate is our proprietary system for verifying that every ad impression on Validator Ent. was consciously viewed by a real, engaged human — not a bot, not an accidental click, not a background autoplay. Every advertisement served through our platform must pass through this three-step gate before the impression is counted and reported to the advertiser.

This is what makes Validator Ent. different from every other music streaming platform: we do not sell impressions. We sell verified attention.

Step 01 — Watch

Minimum Dwell Time

The user watches or listens to the ad for a minimum required dwell period. Skipping or tabbing away pauses the timer. The ad must be in the active viewport.

Step 02 — Confirm

Brand Recall Question

The user is presented with a simple brand recall question — e.g., "What product did you just see?" This confirms the ad was consciously perceived, not just passively streamed.

Step 03 — Verify

Human-Tap Verification

A final human-presence tap interaction confirms a real person is behind the screen. Response latency and interaction pattern are analyzed to detect automation.

Why this matters: Every impression you see reported by Validator Ent. was verified by this three-step HitL (Human-in-the-Loop) process. Advertisers pay only for real, proven human attention — not for background noise.

<\!-- Section 2: Ad Labeling -->

How We Label Ads

Every advertisement on Validator Ent. is clearly and prominently labeled. We never bury disclosures in footnotes, hide them behind small font, or use ambiguous language. Our labeling policy exceeds FTC minimum requirements.

Example — how ads appear in the feed

The ADVERTISEMENT or SPONSORED badge appears prominently at the top of every ad unit — always visible before the user engages, never buried in a footer or displayed in a color that blends into the background. For sponsored playlists or curation partnerships, the label appears directly adjacent to the playlist title and cover art.

Always Before Engagement

The ad label is displayed before the user watches or interacts with the content — never revealed after the fact.

High Contrast & Visible

Labels use sufficient color contrast and font size to be legible to users with visual impairments and across all device sizes.

Sponsored Curation Disclosed

Any playlist or editorial content that received payment or compensation from an artist or label is labeled as "Sponsored Curation."

No Native Deception

We never disguise advertising as organic editorial recommendations. Promoted content is always visually distinct from algorithmic recommendations.

<\!-- Section 3: Attention Data & HitL Disclosure -->

Attention Data & HitL Disclosure

When you interact with a Validation Gate, your interaction produces a small set of signals that we call attention data. This section discloses exactly what is collected, why, and the strict limits on how it is used.

What we collect during a Validation Gate:

What we DO
  • Use attention data to verify the impression for the advertiser
  • Include aggregated gate metrics in advertiser reports
  • Use latency patterns to improve bot detection
  • Tie gate completion to your session token for deduplication
What we DO NOT do
  • Sell attention data to third parties
  • Build behavioral advertising profiles from gate interactions
  • Share individual gate responses with advertisers
  • Cross-reference attention data with your listening history

Data minimization principle: Attention data is tied to your session and optional account identifier only for deduplication purposes. If you are not logged in, attention data is session-only and is not persisted beyond the session lifetime.

<\!-- Section 4: Privacy-for-Validation Waiver -->

Privacy-for-Validation Waiver

The Validation Gate is an opt-in feature tied to our ad-gated vault — a selection of exclusive tracks, extended previews, and premium content that users can unlock by completing an ad gate instead of paying with money. It is a value exchange: your verified attention in exchange for access to content.

By completing a Validation Gate, you provide explicit, informed consent for your interaction signals to be used as proof-of-attention for that specific advertisement. This consent is:

Opting out: You can opt out of ad-gated vault features at any time. You will retain full access to all free preview tracks. The opt-out setting is available in Settings → Ad Preferences. Your existing attention data will not be retroactively deleted from advertiser verification records, as it was collected under valid consent, but no new data will be collected.

The Privacy-for-Validation Waiver is incorporated into our Terms of Service. You can read the full terms at validatorent.com/tos.

<\!-- Section 5: What Advertisers See -->

What Advertisers See

Advertisers purchase campaigns through Validator Ent. and receive a performance dashboard with aggregated metrics. All reporting is designed to prove ad effectiveness without exposing any individual user's identity or personal information.

Advertisers receive
  • Total impressions served
  • HitL-verified impressions (passed all 3 gate steps)
  • Gate pass rate (verified ÷ total)
  • Average response time metrics
  • Brand recall question response rate
  • Geographic region breakdown (country-level)
  • Device type breakdown (mobile / desktop)
Advertisers do NOT receive
  • Your name, email, or account ID
  • Your listening history or music preferences
  • Individual gate interaction records
  • Your location beyond country level
  • Any persistent identifier tied to you
  • Data about your behavior on other platforms

All reports are aggregated. Individual user data is never shared with advertisers. Minimum cohort sizes are enforced in all reports — demographic breakdowns with fewer than 100 users are suppressed to prevent re-identification.

<\!-- Section 6: Your Rights -->
